Located in downtown Pombalina, Praça do Comércio, also known as Terreiro do Paço, is an open, pedestrian space, with cafes and outdoor sales outlets. Highlights include the Arc de Triomphe, the equestrian statue of Dom José, by Machado de Castro and inaugurated in 1774, and the beautiful entrance to Lisbon, right in the river front.

Dedicated to Saint Salvador, the parish church of Santa Cruz resulted from the recovery of the Capela das Almas, from the 17th century, which had already been based on another construction from the beginning of the 16th century, following the 1748 earthquake. It presents influences from the mendicant Gothic and, inside, the baroque and neoclassical gilded altarpieces and traces of paintings on the pillars stand out.

Convento de São Francisco e Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Conceição

Former Franciscan convent with a rectangular plan with two floors, dating from the 17th century, with an attached church, with a plan in the shape of a Latin cross. In the convent building, the bell tower stands out, with a quadrangular plan and three floors. The church has a single nave, accessed through a stonework portal, located in the middle of the gospel side.
Castelo de Santo António / Forte de Santa Catarina

Old fortification dating from the 18th century, of which only some ruins remain. The entire complex was built in stone masonry, except for the area next to the sea, built in reinforced concrete. Inside, there are remains of an old lime kiln, dating back to the end of the 19th century.

Center installed in the former SIBIL whale factory, which was dedicated to transforming large cetaceans into oils and flour. You can see various manufacturing equipment and an exhibition on the biology and ecology of large cetaceans. It also has a bar, a shop and an outdoor leisure space.
