José Félix Henriques Nogueira was a precursor of republicanism and socialism in Portugal. Was born in the parish of Two ports and, despite his early death, he produced a very significant work in the 19th century Portuguese ideological process. His most notable works were the Town in the 19th century and studies on reform in Portugal.

This Manueline pillory has a three steps platform. It possesses a prismatic base from which the twisted shaft comes out divided in the middle by a double frame and decorated with vegan elements. The capital displays four prominent shields.

Built in 1788, by determination of Queen d. Maria i. was removed from their place of origin and is deposited in a garden in front of the old Municipal market of Alverca. The original monument just leaves the top of the landmark: a square base pyramid and concave sides topped by sphere with Sundial carved. This milestone is part of the other 12 that marked the first road between Lisbon and Santarém.
