Iron age fortified settlement, called castro, deployed in a location with good visibility and defense conditions. Are housing, services and buildings of Defense built up by companies of agropastoral characteristics, but also economically dependent on the exploitation of natural resources. Consists of two defensive lines that surround the housing zone and a third, just to the West, with less steep slope.

This is only one of the existing 14 Milestones in Paredes de Coura. They are placed in the road that used to lead until Braga formerly named Bracara Augusta. Only in five of the milestones it is possible to see the numbers of the miles because on its beginning, it served to calculate distances and afterwards for registering the honorary titles from the several imperators, theirs filiation and public posts which explains the existence of several milestones in this area.

From the Romanic primitive church it stands out the portico with three archivolts which arches are supported in columns with ornate capitals with zoomorphic motifs. The central columns are formed by human figures well sculpted.

Torre da Rua de Baixo

Five floors’ tower facing two parallel streets, it is an example of the medieval architecture. The typology of the primitive tympanum and the arch side face of one of the first windows, make us believe that the building is from the XIII century. The remaining doors and square windows and, maybe, the last floor, are the result of transformations the building suffered in the modern period. This medieval building is one of the oldest in town.

In honor of St. Benedict shrine, from where you can enjoy beautiful panoramic views of the entire Serra do Gerês. The chancel and the altar are dedicated to this Saint, cult that already comes from the mid-18TH century. The sanctuary hosts the main pilgrimage of 10 to 15 August, and other parties on 21 March and 11 July.
