Castro located in the hillside of Serra da Arada, covering an area of more than seven acres and amounting to 610 meters above sea level. Insculturas of basic typology were discovered the peninsular Northwest rock art, which allowed to conclude that this was inhabited between the 7th century BC and the 4th century AD. There are still traces of more than 25 homes with circular, oval and rectangular plants. The town was defended by a triple wall that had a perimeter of 660 meters.

Museum placed on a building that is a representative of the bourgeois architecture from the end of the XIX century. The current exhibitions include a show of characteristic clothes of Algarve in the XIX/XX centuries and a nucleus of popular religious sculpture. At the agriculture settings are about twenty old vehicles from this region. There is, also, an exhibition of horse-trappings, agricultural implements and an area dedicated to cork.

Narrow streets of stone, with prominent chimneys and furnaces, bent roofs, whitewashed walls, yards and “poiais”. Going out for a walk leads you to tranquillity, as the pure air carries the scent of rock-rose, rosemary and brushwood. The historical centre of São Brás de Alportel has ground, whitewashed houses with a traditional architecture and the palacelike buildings of the former manufactures and tradesmen of cork, with façades cored with glazed tiles, carved ashlar masonry and iron balconies.

A fortified village of the late Bronze Age and Iron Age on which the romans later built a town. One can view temples, a commercial area, thermae, sidewalks and a horse racing track, among other vestiges. A special not to the roman circus that could welcome 25 thousand people. It is classed as a Public Interest Construction.
