Located in the village of Carrapateira, this museum is a cultural space that focuses on local development and belongs to the new generation of community-focused local museums. It also addresses the issue of integrating traditional activities into the future of local communities.
Located in the town's historic area, more precisely in the old Town Hall, the museum has two sections. In the Archaeology section, you can see archaeological finds that marked human presence in the municipality, from the Mirense period, the Bronze Age, and the Muslim occupation. The Ethnography section houses a collection of agricultural implements. The Municipal Art Gallery is located in the same building.
Housed in the Santo Antônio chapel in the historic area of the village of Aljezur since 1995, the museum features pieces donated by various government agencies and private individuals. Highlights include paintings, antique prints, books, coins, medals, and prints.
This museum is located in the old hospital of Aljezur's Misericórdia, that dates back to the late 18th century and was later turned into a Elders Home. At a later time, the Home changed and the space has been occupied by the Religious Art Museum since 2000. It contains objects from Aljezur's Misericórdia, from the Parish of Nossa Senhora da Alva, some offers and acquisitions.
The Casa Museu Pintor José Cercas is located in the historical centre of Alzejur. The painter donated his house and artistic spoil to the city hall on the condition that the municipality would create a museum-house with his name and where his artistic legacy would be on permanent exhibit. Besides José Cercas’ paintings and drawings, the visitor can also see glazed pottery, sculptures, religious art and valuable furniture from several periods. There is a small garden on the property where visitors can enjoy a beautiful panoramic view.
