A grand house commissioned in the early 19th century, only completed almost thirty years later. It features an L-shaped floor plan, with two large facades and two turrets topped by balustrades and pinnacles. Inside, the rooms boast neoclassical décor. Outside, a landscaped terrace is flanked by high walls. The palace, despite being on private property dedicated to the production of one of the region's most renowned Alvarinho wines, is open to visitors.

Of the original castle, built by D. Dinis in 1306, only two gates and some sections of the medieval wall remain. Examples of the 17th-century fortification include the Salvaterra Gate, some curtain walls, and bastions. The tower, a contemporary of D. Pedro I and D. Fernando, is another surviving element of the fortress.

Built in the mid 18th century presents a facade divided by wide pilasters that frame the Windows. The other body of construction is perpendicular and ends in a alpendrada balcony. On each side of the gate of access are two columns, each with a coat. The wall, which delineates a large patio, has two figures of guards. It should be noted that the wall and the gate are of later construction.
