The Cimalhinhas Palheiras Nucleus is part of the Cimalhinhas Heritage Trail. The Cimalhinhas Heritage Trail, in Carregal do Sal, is a local project to safeguard, enhance, and transform archaeological heritage into a museum, aiming to preserve and recover evidence of the past. It consists of a cluster of rough-hewn stone buildings covered with wood and corrugated tiles, which were used to store tools, herd animals, or store straw in post-medieval times.

A 12th-century monument that underwent extensive renovations in the 18th and 19th centuries, it preserves its original Gothic Main Chapel, with a vaulted ceiling. Beneath the Gothic-Manueline arch lies the tomb of the knight Fernão Gomes de Góis, executed in 1440 by João Afonso, Master of the Bells. The tomb features a richly decorated reclining statue supported by four lions with thick, combed manes. In this House lived the Doctor diplomat Aristides de Sousa Mendes when he exercised the function of Consul General in Bordeaux, in 1940, saved thousands of lives of the nazi Holocaust of World War II. This House features rectangular plant, two floors and mansard roof, facades torn by spans of perfect round profile on the lower floor and upper us rectilinear.
