The Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro (Regional Theater) was founded in 1990, the result of a meeting of local, national, and international artists, in the small village of Campo Benfeito, high in the Serra do Montemuro. It presents shows throughout the country, and this is where the company rehearses and occasionally performs.
This archaeological and ethnographic museum is located in Casa da Cerca, an interesting emblazoned house overlooking the municipal garden. It displays a wide range of objects related to the flax and wool cycle, handicrafts, agricultural implements, regional costumes, and archaeological objects.
In this museum, you can learn about the traditions of this region, including crafts, traditional costumes, cuisine, and activities typical of this part of the country. Their primary goal is to preserve ethnographic traditions.
The Centro Municipal de Cultura de Castro Daire (Municipal Cultural Centre of Castro Daire) is composed of two modules, the Municipal Library, a part of the National Net of Public Reading, and the Municipal Auditorium. The Library services are free and aim to provide all the inhabitants with access to culture, education and leisure. This building has a capacity for 200 people, has a juvenile room, an adults room, a multimedia room and a mutiuses room. It features photography exhibitions, as well as events during the summer, namely the books fair where books aree sold with a discount.
